Closed: draft revised Gambling Policy (5 August - 4 October 2024)

Under the Gambling Act 2005, licensing authorities are required to review their Statement of Principles (Gambling Policy) every three years.  As our current policy expires on 31 January 2025 we need to review it and this includes completing a public consultation on the new document.

The Policy must set out the principles which we propose to apply in exercising our licensing functions under the Act.  It has been updated to reflect changes in legislation, Gambling Commission guidance and local related matters.

Section 349(3) of the Act requires the Licensing Authority to consult on its Policy Statement with the police, those who represent the interests of gambling businesses in their area and those which represent interested persons likely to be affected.

The consultation period begins on 5 August 2024 and you are invited to comment on the draft Policy document until 4 October 2024.

At the end of the consultation period, any comments will be considered and the policy amended as appropriate.  The final policy will be confirmed by Full Council on 12 December 2025 and take effect on 31 January 2025.

Anyone wishing to make comments should complete our feedback form. Any comments received will be published as part of the policy adoption process.

Proposed revised policy and scheme

This revised document sets out Great Yarmouth Borough Council's policy for licensing for gambling, including adult gaming centres, licensed family entertainment centres, casinos, bingo, betting premises, tracks and travelling fairs.
